WALKING ALONG SIDE OF CHRISTIANS IN THEIR HOME COUNTRIES

Hello,

I'm David Nelson. I've been ministering in a local churches for the last 17 years. I have been feeling the call of God to devote a much larger portion of my time and energy doing hands on work in Cambodia as well as gathering resources here at home. It is my hope to develop this small indigenous mission into an international church planting movement.

I am looking to the greater body of Christ to catch this vision with me. I am looking for individuals and congregations with a passion for reaching the lost in the far corners of the earth, who can contribute their time, talent and resources to this effort.

Typically- a missionary working in Cambodia and other SE Asia countries will spend the first 2 years in Cambodia doing nothing more than language study. One church mission’s minister said it typically costs $60,000 to $100,000 for the first year just to put a family on the field.

I believe that a more effective and efficient way is to work as an advocate and equipper for indigenous church leaders. I am planning on spending 2-3 months per year overseas doing direct hands on work. I am planning on using much of the rest of the year working to raise funds, and arrange for the right people to take short term trips to accomplish specific goals. This can be done for less than half the cost of a full-time field missionary.

Please pray for me and my family as we transition into this. If God has given you a passion for “the least of these”, be sure to allow Him to move you and show you how He can use you in this work.

David Nelson
